After decades of performing and recording together, the fellas in Alabama have no intentions of slowing down. The group’s latest studio album was released just a little over two years ago, and their past year was packed with one performance after the next.
Alabama has already been hard at work in 2018, and have checked on major gig off of their schedule. That gig was Charlie Daniels‘ annual Volunteer Jam concert, which took place on Wednesday (March 7).
Now, the group is wasting no time in getting back on the stage again. On Thursday (March 8), they made an exciting announcement that will have all fans rushing to mark their calendars.
As revealed through a press release, Alabama will be embarking on a brand-new tour starting on March 24 in Texas!
Last year, George Strait took a unique approach to his Las Vegas residency when he decided to perform a duo of back-to-back shows only featuring his 60 number one hits. Alabama is adopting Strait’s model for their new tour, which will toss the spotlight on their 43 chart-topping songs.
By placing the focus on their most well-known songs, Alabama is helping their tour have a wider appeal. This is something that the group’s lead singer Randy Owen recognized, saying in a press release, “This year’s tour is for the lifelong fans, and also the younger generations just now discovering the music.”
So far, the tour is set to run for a total of 22 dates, with concerts plotted all the way into September. More dates will pop up as they are scheduled at various venues.
Alabama’s manager Tony Conway explains why this tour is going to be another major chapter in the band’s story.
“The band is having fun, selling tickets, and sounding unbelievable vocally,” Conway said. “This tour is about the music of the past 49 years, the band’s 43 No. 1 singles. Alabama is still and will always be the greatest country band in American history.”
