Dollywood Closed Early On Wednesday, July 17

Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park has reopened after a brief and unexpected closure.

Pigeon Forge’s former Rebel Railroad officially opened as Dollywood in 1986. Since then, Parton transformed her namesake theme park into one of the top tourist attractions in the United States. Guests enjoy thrilling roller coasters, fun carnival rides, delicious treats, musical performances, and seasonal festivals nestled within the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains.

This year (2024), Dollywood opened its new “Dolly Parton Experience.” The exhibit features special artifacts and outfits from Parton’s life and career.

Also this year, Dollywood was named the #1 theme park in the U.S., surpassing other popular destinations like Disneyland and Disney World.

Unfortunately, Dollywood closed its gates just one hour after opening on Wednesday (July 17). The park shared an announcement about the sudden closure, stating:

“Due to a water main break, Dollywood theme park is closed for the day. Dollywood maintenance teams and City of Pigeon Forge crews are on scene to repair the break. More details will be provided once available.”

The water main break did not affect operations at Dollywood’s resorts or its Splash Country waterpark, so they remained open.

Dollywood Reopens After Water Main Break Forced The Park To Close For A Day

Thankfully, Dollywood reopened the following day (July 18). The park shared the good news on social media.

“We are happy to share that the water main break has been repaired,” Dollywood announced. “The park will reopen for regular hours today. We sincerely apologize to all guests who were impacted by the water main break. The closure prevented us from creating memories worth repeating for you and your families yesterday, and we want to make it right.”

Dollywood advised those affected by the closure to call 1-800-Dollywood to request a refund for purchases related to July 17. Additionally, the park stated that all admission tickets, TimSaver passes, parking fees, and locker receipts from July 17 would be honored upon guests’ next visit.

We’re glad to hear that Dollywood’s gates are open again!
