Dolly Parton is known for her generosity and recent events have made that all the more obvious. While she’s been social distancing at her home, she decided to do her part to encourage and help people through the troubling times the world is facing right now.

Dolly recorded a video of herself singing her 2014 song “Try” which is available on Netflix. She begins the video with a few words of encouragement:

“I’m gonna do a song for you now because really, at these times who knows why this is going on, but I think everything is for a purpose. I believe that when we’re through all this, we’re all gonna be better people. I know it’s making me look closer at myself than I ever did before. And hopefully that’s what this is all about. Sometimes God has to smack us upside the head and make us pay attention. And I’m hoping that this is gonna pass real soon and all we can do is try to be smart, try to be safe, try to love one another.”

Dolly also posted a video on social media spreading a message of hope specifically targeting the people of Nashville, where she’s made a significant impact throughout her career.
