Dolly Parton is all about making dreams come true, and she did just that for a Missouri woman who considers herself one of Dolly’s biggest fans.
Jackie Carroll, 54, has down syndrome and is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. She is currently receiving hospice care from CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri. According to a social media post from CoxHealth, Jackie’s “world revolves around Dolly Parton.” Jackie knows every word to Dolly’s biggest hits and she finds joy in her music every day.

In early April, Jackie’s caretakers posted about her love for Dolly on social media and said that they would like to make her dream of meeting Dolly come true. The request spread quickly and made its way to Dolly herself who stepped up in a big way for her fan.
Dolly and her team reached out to Jackie and invited her and her caregivers to Dollywood where Jackie met and visited with Dolly.
CoxHealth shared photos from the ladies’ meeting at Dollywood, saying, “Dolly Parton once said, ‘You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.’ Jackie, one of CoxHealth at Home’s hospice patients, and her caregivers recently took that advice to heart to see if they could help Jackie meet her idol, Dolly. And we’re thrilled to share that her dream came true this past weekend.”
Jackie’s family was thrilled to see their loved one meet her idol. “Jackie has loved Dolly since she was a little girl. Her bedroom is Dolly themed, she has pretend phone conversations with Dolly and she proudly sings Dolly’s songs. This was an experience of a lifetime for Jackie! Thank you to all who made this possible.”
