Cody Johnson And CeCe Winans Are Teaming Up To Put A New Spin On A Gospel Favorite

Country superstar Cody Johnson is joining forces with gospel legend CeCe Winans for a powerful new rendition of her beloved song, “Come Jesus Come.”

CeCe Winans is widely known as one of the most successful gospel artists of all time. Since starting her music career in the 1980s, she has earned 17 Grammy Awards. This is more than any other female gospel singer in history.

Winans has 19 million sales certified by the RIAA, making her one of the best-selling gospel artists ever. Her legacy also includes numerous other acknowledgments, like a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Music City Walk of Fame.

Most recently, you may have seen Winans give a powerful performance of her hit song “Come Jesus Come” during American Idol’s Easter Sunday special episode, titled Songs of Faith.

She sang the gospel track with former Idol contestant Roman Collins.

Not long before taking the Idol stage, Winan made an exciting announcement on her social media. She revealed that she is going to release a new version of “Come Jesus Come,” this time with the help of Cody Johnson.

She shared the news in a post that featured the cover art for their upcoming duet. In the caption, the 60-year-old singer wrote:

“I’m so excited to finally share that the newest version of #ComeJesusCome will be joined by @codyjohnson! We pray this song meets you right where you are.”

Cody Johnson has been very vocal about his faith over the years. While he hasn’t released a full gospel album of his own, he has dropped several tracks that could be classified in the genre, such as “By Your Grace,” “Make Me a Mop,” “His Name Is Jesus,” and more.

Now, as he teams up with Winans, the upcoming collaboration has fans super excited. Many left comments on the announcement post about how thrilled they are to hear the two artists come together.

CeCe Winans and Cody Johnson’s rendition of “Come Jesus Come” will be available on Friday, April 25.
