Grace West, A Standout Member Of Team Blake

Certain Voice contestants stand out from the start. One such contestant is Grace West, who knocked the socks off everyone with her rendition of Pam Tillis‘ “Maybe It Was Memphis” during the auditions.

Blake Shelton only had one spot left on his team at the time. This was huge, since Season 23 is his last season. That meant he wanted West to fill the last spot on his last team, ever.

Niall Horan also turned his chair. But West knew her home was on Team Blake, and she picked him as her coach.

West went on to win her battle against Carlos Rising. They performed Randy Travis‘ “I Told You So.”

You’re doing what you were born to do, and it’s country, whether you like it or not when it comes out of your mouth,” Shelton told her after that performance.

Grace West Delivers A “Knockout” Cover Of A Dolly Parton Classic

West kept things country when she performed during the knockouts. She covered Dolly Parton‘s classic hit from 1977, “Here You Come Again.”

“Here You Come Again” is one of few Parton songs she did not write herself. It was co-written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

The song was a massive hit for Parton. It reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and also crossed over to claim the #3 position on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

West’s version of “Here You Come Again” was as country as could be. Shelton loved what he heard, proclaiming mid-performance, “That’s the real deal, man.”

The other coaches also seemed to enjoy the performance. They were smiling and bopping along to the music the whole time West sang.

To make matters even better, the crowd was charmed by West’s performance. Everyone cheered like crazy for her once she finished the song.

West competed against Neil Salsich during the knockouts. Shelton chose West as the winner of the knockout, and Salsich was thankfully stolen by Kelly Clarkson.

Head below to watch West sing “Here You Come Again.” Once you do, you’ll understand why Shelton has been such a big champion of hers from the start of the season!
