In 1964, Elvis Presley started an affair with his co-star Ann-Margret while the two were shooting Viva Las Vegas.Â
Ann-Margret, 80, opened up about her experience on set with Elvis in an interview with Las Vegas Review-Journal. Ann-Margret admitted that part of what drew the two stars together was their shared interests.Â
“We met on the movie, we had several things in common, including a love for Las Vegas,” Ann-Margret noted.
At the time, Elvis was married to Priscilla Presley. Still, Elvis and Ann-Margret dated for about a year until Priscilla found out about the affair. Unapologetic about their shared connection, Ann-Margret speaks fondly of her time with Elvis.
“We dated, and we just had a great time together. What can I say?” Ann-Margret admitted.Â
In her 1994 autobiography, My Story, Ann-Margret admitted to an instant connection between Elvis and herself. The two stars were both talented at singing, dancing, and acting, but Ann-Margret revealed that she and Elvis also shared similar “demons.” Their attraction was undeniable, even to crew members on set. Ann-Margret wrote:Â
âWe were quiet, polite, careful. But I knew what was going to happen once we got to know each other. Elvis did, too.”
Despite Ann-Margret’s fondness for her time with Elvis, the Swedish-American actress has only watched the movie Viva Las Vegas one time.
