What a special way to carry on The Judds’ legacy.
Wynonna Judd and her mother, Naomi, formed the Grammy Award-winning mother-daughter country duo The Judds in 1980.
The two powerful vocalists gained widespread success together and produced a string of hits in the 1980s and early 1990s. To name just a few you might recognize — “Mama, He’s Crazy” (the duo’s first #1 hit), “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout The Good Old Days),” and “Love Can Build A Bridge.”

As a tremendously successful act in country music, The Judds won numerous awards throughout their career, including five impressive Grammys. After 8 years of performing together, The Judds disbanded in 1991, and Wynonna began her solo career soon after, releasing her debut album in 1992. The Judds continued to reunite on occasion for special tours and performances.
Naomi passed away on April 30, 2022, just nineteen days after their final performance as a duo and one day before The Judds’ Country Music Hall of Fame induction.

Since Naomi Judd passed away, Wynonna has continued to honor her mother’s memory in meaningful ways.
During a recent interview with Us Weekly, Wynonna, who recently celebrated her 60th birthday, was asked if she still talks to her late mother, Naomi.
“I do. On stage, I look up a lot because I see angels. Now, I do it with Mom. I’m like, ‘What the hell are you doing? Where are you, and why are you not here? And why are we not singing together again?'”
Wynonna also shared that she feels her mom’s presence the most when she’s on stage and when she’s with her granddaughter, Kaliyah, whose mother is Wynonna’s daughter, Grace.
“She carries a picture of Mama around and a picture of her and her mom. I talk to her about them and say, ‘They love you very much.'”
During the interview, Wynonna was also asked how she takes care of herself these days. She said that she is working on both her mental and physical wellbeing, speaking frequently to her grief counselors and her life coach.
It’s heartwarming to see Wynonna prioritizing her well-being despite facing challenges, and finding ways to keep her mother’s spirit alive. We wish her and her family continued happiness.
