Gill told Music Row, “I’m feeling the most creative I’ve ever felt in my career these last few years. I’ve collected a treasure trove of songs and with my friends and partners at MCA we’ve come up with a way to release all this new music.”
50 Years From Home: I Gave You Everything I Had Features Seven Songs, Including A New Version Of “Go Rest High On That Mountain”
The first EP in Gill’s series dropped on Friday (October 17). Titled 50 Years From Home: I Gave You Everything I Had, the record includes seven tracks.
Track #7 is the new, extended version of Gill’s emotional ’90s hit, “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” The extended version features the third verse Gill added to the song in 2019, which he previously only played live and had never recorded.
Gill released the extended version of “Go Rest High” on its own in September to celebrate the song’s 30th anniversary. He also performed that version of the song with Lainey Wilson during the Primetime Emmy Awards’ “In Memoriam” tribute.
