Trisha Yearwood Releases First-Ever Co-Written Album, “The Mirror”

Trisha Yearwood’s 16th Studio Album Is The First She Has Ever Co-Written

Multitalented entertainer Trisha Yearwood is a singer, author, television host, and businesswoman, but has not been known as a songwriter until now. More than three decades into her career, the Grand Ole Opry member has ventured into a new facet of country music. Her latest album, The Mirror, is the first she has ever co-written.

Although she has 16 studio albums and nine compilation albums to her credit, the previous projects were written by other celebrated songwriters. The highly personal 15-track collection just dropped today, July 18th. With the announcement of the album, Trisha wrote:

“Co-writing the songs for my new album, ‘The Mirror,’ has been the experience of a lifetime.”

Finding Her Voice As A Songwriter

Trisha recently sat down with Nashville Lifestyles to tell the story of how this new project came to be. She recalls:

“I had somebody in college tell me I wasn’t a songwriter, and I kind of let that stick. Something flipped in me a couple years ago and I thought, just because somebody said that, who probably doesn’t even remember it, that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the truth about me.” 

A friend and songwriter, Leslie Satcher, continuously encouraged Trisha to lean into her creative side and try her hand at songwriting. Even after penning a few songs, the 60-year-old vocalist never planned to record them. She admits:

“I never intended to record [the songs], it was just kind of therapy for me and as time passed co-writers and my husband [Garth Brooks] said, ‘These songs are good, and you need to make a record.’ And all my friends were encouraging me.” 

The album’s title, The Mirror, is reflective (literally) of where Trisha is personally and professionally. She shares:

“This whole project is really a reflection of what I’ve been doing for the past couple years. Not to sound cheesy, but it’s really introspective in a way I’ve never done before. ‘The Mirror’ felt like the perfect title because it felt like this is me looking at myself and here’s what I have to say.”

Garth Brooks Gushes Over Trisha Yearwood’s Latest Album

A few days ahead of the release, Trisha Yearwood’s superstar husband, Garth Brooks, shared a heartfelt post online. He commended his wife for “outdoing herself,” and wrote:

“The Mirror is my FAVORITE album you have EVER made…the world is lucky to hear your voice, your stories and your soul in this way. This album, like you, is a gift to all of us!”

He continues:

“I sat and watched her sign albums one night at the house, I jokingly asked her if she would sign one for me, she laughed and said if I wanted an album signed I could click the link and buy one myself!”

How to Get An Exclusive Vinyl Record Signed By Trisha Yearwood
