Paul Cauthen Shares A Video Giving Fans An Update On His Health
Country singer Paul Cauthen shared a video on his social media on Thursday, March 13, to explain his recent absence to fans. In the video, Paul revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
The news of Paul’s cancer diagnosis came shortly after the “Cocaine Country Dancing” singer canceled his tour due to pneumonia and other undisclosed health reasons.
In February, his team issued a statement explaining that he had canceled the remaining shows to focus on his mental and physical health back in Texas.
The 39-Year-Old Singer Explains How He Learned About His Cancer Diagnosis
In the video Paul posted, he began by acknowledging his time away from the spotlight, saying it was “for the right reasons.” He recalled battling pneumonia and taking a lot of steroids when one day he woke up and his lips were blue and his face was pale.
Concerned, he told his bus driver to take the next exit, which led to a nearby airport. From there, he flew home and decided to see a doctor to get checked out.
“I kind of shook myself, you know, and listened to myself for the first time in a long time,” he said.
At the clinic, Paul underwent a full-body scan, and the results seemed positive. He noted that his heart, lungs, and liver looked great.
However, the doctor noticed a small “hot spot,” which turned out to be a mass on his right thyroid.
After further examination, the mass was diagnosed as papillary carcinoma. According to the Mayo Clinic, papillary carcinoma is the most common type of thyroid cancer.
Paul says that the time he took off from touring ultimately ended up saving his life. He used the break to reflect on everything and felt that God gave him a reason to get checked out.
As of now, Paul hasn’t shared specific details about where he stands in his battle with cancer. He has vowed to return to the stage, though. He says he is not done performing and creating music for his fans.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Paul Cauthen during this time.
