“Starsky & Hutch” Star David Soul Dies At 80 Years Old

David Soul, a versatile American actor and singer, rose to fame through his role as Detective Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson in the iconic TV series Starsky & Hutch during the 1970s. His portrayal of the calm and collected detective garnered widespread acclaim and made him a household name.
Soul starred alongside Michael Glaser, who played Detective Dave Starsky, in the buddy cop series.
Before his breakthrough in television, Soul began his career as a musician, gaining attention for his musical talents. His transition to acting led to notable roles in both television and film, showcasing his range and depth as an actor. Apart from Starsky & Hutch, Soul’s career encompasses a variety of roles in theater, film, and television. His hit 1976 single “Don’t Give Up on Us” topped charts in the US, the UK, and Canada in the 1970s, showcasing his musical abilities and adding another dimension to his artistic repertoire. A year later, his song “Silver Lady” hit number one in the UK.

According to TMZ, he was “sounded by his family when he passed.”
In a statement to PEOPLE, Helen Snell, his wife of 13 years said, that he “died…after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family.”
She continued, “He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.”
