Dolly Parton has Been Going Through Some Health Struggles
On September 17, Dolly Parton announced that she would be missing an appearance at Dollywood due to a kidney stone that got infected.
Shortly after, she postponed her highly-anticipated Las Vegas Residency citing “health challenges.”
She shared a statement with her fans, writing, “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my hundred thousand mile checkup, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!“
Fans began to get concerned because Parton hardly ever cancels anything. Parton’s sister, Freida, added panic on October 8th when she posted on her public Facebook page, asking for prayers for her sister.

Dolly Says She “Ain’t Dead Yet”
Dolly must have heard about the panic online because later that day, she posted a video proving that she was doing alright.
She was on a set filming something for Dollywood when she told the camera, “Back when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of.”
She continued, “So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, we need to take care of this. We need to take care of that. Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt [University Medical Center], where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there, but I wanted you to know that I’m not dying.”
Someone Close To Dolly Gave A Health Update
Dolly Parton graced the cover of People Magazine for the November 24th issues, which will be available on Friday, November 14.
Parton did the cover shoot and interview before her health issues came to light, but a source close to Parton gave People an update everyone has been waiting for.
“Dolly is getting better every day. She is at home taking care of herself while many friends and family visit her,” the source told the publication. “In true Dolly spirit she has already started decorating for the holidays — her favorite time of year.”
We’re happy to hear that Dolly is doing better! Her Las Vegas dates were rescheduled from December 2025 to September 2026. She will be back on stage before we know it.
