Reba McEntire Returns To The Voice

Reba McEntire first appeared on The Voice during Season 1. She served as Blake Shelton‘s team advisor.

Now, McEntire is back on The Voice as its Mega Mentor for Season 23. She helped Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Chance the Rapper coach their contestants ahead of the knockouts.

The first round of knockouts aired on Monday night (April 17). We got the chance to see McEntire in action as she coached and complimented the contestants ahead of their performances.

One “Voice” Singer Covers A Celine Dion Song

One member of Team Blake, Kylee Dayne, took on quite the challenge. She opted to cover the song “All by Myself,” which was originally released by Eric Carmen in 1975.

But Dayne styled her performance after Celine Dion’s iconic cover from 1996. Dion’s version of “All by Myself” was a global hit, climbing as high as the #1 spot on the US Adult Contemporary chart.

It goes without saying that it’s no easy task to tackle a song recorded by Dion. By Dayne rose to the occasion, and worked to make her rendition the absolute best.

Kylee’s Performance Makes Reba Cry

It seems Dayne succeeded in delivering a powerful performance of “All by Myself.” Her rendition made McEntire cry during rehearsals.

You really touched my heart,” an emotional McEntire told the 19-year-old singer. “That’s the biggest thing, is to capture somebody in the audience, to where they’re sobbing, or laughing. Get some emotion out of them, and you did it for me.”

That’s some high praise coming from McEntire! But how did Dayne do in the actual knockout itself?

Did She Win Or Lose?

During the knockouts, Dayne competed against fellow Team Blake member Walker Wilson. Wilson performed Waylon Jennings‘ “I Ain’t Living Long Like This.”

As awesome as his performance was, Dayne blew everyone away. Her coach, Blake Shelton, ended up choosing her as the winner of the knockout!

When The Voice posted the official video of Dayne’s performance on YouTube, they described it as “stunning.” Viewers seemed to agree, as some of the comments were:

“what a huge voice!! did not expect her voice to be that huge! she could win this whole thing with the right song choices.”

“Wow Kylee. You really did Celine Dion justice. That was an incredible performance on your part.”

“I truly believe we don’t know what she is capable of! So talented.”

“I thought this was the best performance of the night. It had so many different dimensions and you could tell the coaches were blown away.”

You can watch Dayne beautifully sing “All by Myself” in the video below. We fully understand why her performance made McEntire cry in rehearsals!
