Reba Shares Photos From Her Mama’s Funeral

On March 14, 2020, the McEntire family lost their matriarch.

Jacqueline McEntire, country singer Reba McEntire’s beloved mama, passed away at the age of 93. The country legend took to social media to announce the sad news to her fans.

“Our Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today. She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go. The cancer might think it won the battle but we’re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him. She was ready to see our Daddy, her mama and daddy and all her family and friends,” she wrote.

Reba’s sister Susie, also a singer, posted a tribute on her Facebook page saying, “Rest in deep peace Mamma. Say Hi to daddy for me. Kate and I, among 1000’s will miss your grace, wit, generous heart and common sense. I love you and am so proud to alway be your baby girl.”

Just two days later – on March 16 – Reba updated fans on her mother’s funeral arrangements. Due to the timing of Jacqueline’s passing, which fell right in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic where most of the country had just begun stay-at-home quarantine orders, the family decided to “indefinitely postpone [their] Mama’s funeral and burial.”

Reba said they would “monitor the situation and let you know as soon as possible” about when the funeral would take place.

Susie echoed her older sister’s sentiments with a post of her own. She said, “All services and events surrounding Mama’s funeral are postponed until a later date. Thank you for understanding.”

Despite the indefinite postponement, the McEntires went through with the funeral and burial. Reba shared photos of the somber day on her Facebook on Tuesday morning (March 31).

She captioned the series of photos, “This is us always having each other’s backs. Tight knit family. She taught us that. #mama“

The photos included a cute one of her and her mama, two flower arrangements at the funeral, and a couple family photos with Jacquline’s casket.
