Ray Stevens Had A Heart Attack & Underwent Heart Surgery Earlier This Year

Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Stevens recently shared a long-awaited update on his health after suffering a heart attack in July 2025.

86-year-old Stevens started experiencing some chest pain this summer. It was later determined that he suffered a mild heart attack, and he underwent a “minimally invasive heart surgery” on July 7.

Thankfully, that surgery was a success, and Stevens started to focus on his recovery.

Understandably, Stevens took some time off from performing while he worked to regain his strength. He canceled his performances at his famous CabaRay Showroom in Nashville.

Stevens’ team shared a new update on his health in August. They revealed that he underwent a second surgery in late July to have two stents placed in an effort to clear additional blockages.

At that time, Stevens also announced his intention to sell the CabaRay.

“At 86 and with my recent health problems, it’s probably time to slow down, and selling CabaRay is the first step,” he said in a post shared on his social media pages.

But Stevens made it clear he doesn’t plan to retire fully. He talked about returning to the studio once he felt strong enough to sing again.

Ray Stevens Shares Update On His Health And New Music

On December 2, five months after his heart attack, Stevens and his team shared an update on his health and what he’s been working on.

Next to a photo of a smiling Stevens in the recording studio, his team wrote:

Ray Stevens is pleased to share that his recovery from the heart attack he suffered in July is progressing very positively. He is doing well following the life-saving procedures that took place earlier this year. Stevens remains upbeat and active, now back working full-time in his recording studio as he regains strength and continues forward with confidence.”

Stevens said he’s striving to get stronger so he can hopefully return to performing onstage. Until then, his fans can anticipate new music, as he has a lot he wants to accomplish in the studio. He’s releasing his next single, “Savannah,” on February 12, 2026.

Stevens also touched on the future of the CabaRay. He’s still thinking of selling the property, but is waiting for the perfect offer. “I just need someone to give me a call and make an offer I can understand and can’t refuse,” he said.
