Deviled eggs is one of the most popular side dishes at the dinner table. While the fan-favorite is tasty, John Wayne had a recipe to elevate the appetizer to the next level.

Wayne was a man of many talents, including cooking. The actor had a list of favorite recipes, and many of them are assembled into cookbooks. Wayne’s 5-Ingredient BBQ deviled eggs are part of The Official John Wayne 5-Ingredient Homestyle Cookbook: Simple Recipes and Heartfelt Stories from Duke’s Family Kitchen collection.

As the title suggests, the recipe is incredibly easy with just a handful of ingredients. Wayne’s delicious BBQ deviled eggs call for 12 eggs, barbecue sauce, Dijon mustard, mayo, green onion, and salt and pepper to taste.

To prepare the side dish, boil and peel the eggs. Afterward, slice the eggs lengthwise and separate the yolks from the whites. In a bowl, combine the yolks with 6 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 2 teaspoons of mustard. Season the mixture with a pinch of salt and pepper before returning to the egg whites. For the big finish, drizzle the eggs with barbecue sauce and sprinkle with green onions.

These deviled eggs with a twist are sure to be a new family favorite. For more John Wayne recipes, check out the video below!
