A car accident in Jackson County, Mississippi, has claimed the life of a beloved drummer.

Nicholas “Niko” Everette died Saturday morning when the vehicle he was driving went off the road, struck a culvert and then a tree. The 32-year-old drummer is best known as part of the band Whiskey Kiss, but has played with other artists including Luke Bryan, Cowboy Mouth and Saliva.

Tributes to the musician filled his social media pages as news of his death spread. Niko is being remembered as loyal, kind, talented and “legend and a rock star.”

Everette’s father shared a heartfelt post about his son, saying: “My heart hurts worse than I thought possible. I take comfort in knowing how much he loved his life, family, friends and playing music. He spread love abundantly and was surrounded by love. He had more friends that truly loved and cared about him than any person I know. He loved them equally. Thanks for all your prayers, support and for helping to make his life the best.”
