Country Artists Show Support For Toby Keith Amid Stomach Cancer Diagnosis

On Sunday (June 12), Toby Keith revealed he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. He actually received the news in the fall, but kept the diagnosis private until now:
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” Keith shared in a statement on social media. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”Advertisement
Keith said he is “looking forward to spending this time with [his] family.” Though he promised he “will see the fans sooner than later.”

Keith’s fans reacted swiftly to the news. The comments section of his posts are full of loving messages wishing him well.
Many of Keith’s fellow country artists also shared their support. On Instagram, Jason Aldean commented:
“Damn bro. Hate ur dealing with that, but if anybody can kick Cancer’s ass, it’s you. Prayin for ya big man.”
RaeLynn also commented on Keith’s Instagram post, saying:
“Praying for a full healing in your body!!”
Lance Carpenter was another artist who commented on Keith’s Instagram post. Carpenter recorded a duet, “Anyone Else,” with Keith’s daughter, Krystal Keith, and is signed to Keith’s label Show Dog Nashville:
“Prayers up for ya Big Dog!” Carpenter wrote.
Keith received a lot of support on Twitter too. Big & Rich’s John Rich shared Keith’s post and wrote:
“Hang in there @Toby Keith.”
A few rock artists also chimed in to share their well-wishes for Keith. Bret Michaels said:
“@tobykeith my heart, soul & prayers are always with you & your family. My friend keep your incredible warrior spirit.”
Sammy Hagar was another artist who reached out to show his support for Keith. He said:
“wishing my big buddy a speedy recovery and a whole lotta love from most redheads around the world.”
