‘CMT’ To Air Special Tribute To Kris Kristofferson

Country Music Television will honor the late Kris Kristofferson, who passed away on September 28th
Legendary singer, songwriter, and actor Kris Kristofferson passed away at his home in Maui on Saturday, September 28th. The beloved musician was 88 years old and surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his death.
Kris was considered a pioneer of the outlaw country movement in the 1970s, making space for musicians to step outside of the polished Nashville style and create a more raw, authentic sound. Additionally, the Texas native found success as an actor, proving himself to be a multitalented entertainer.
The family shared the heartbreaking news in an online statement which read:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, at home. We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”

The country music community remembers their friend and colleague
Shortly after news of Kris Kristofferson’s death was made public, tributes to the icon began pouring out from the country music community. Countless heartfelt messages and personal memories were shared online, reflecting just how much of an impact the late musician had during his life.
Alan Jackson shared that Kris was an “inspiration.” Reba McEntire called Kris a “gentleman, kind soul, and lover of words. ” Randy Travis reflected that Kris “taught by example, lived with purpose, and loved in poetry form,” to name a few.

CMT will honor Kris Kristofferson with a special TV program
Today, Country Music Television (CMT) announced their tribute titled CMT Remembers Kris Kristofferson, specially curated to celebrate and honor “one of the greatest songwriters that ever lived.” This special program will highlight the life of Kris Kristofferson, who the network describes as “an artist who both defied and defined country music.”
