Alan Jackson released his latest album, Where Have You Gone, in 2021. The album features 21 tracks, with some of the standout songs being “You’ll Always Be My Baby,” “Where Her Heart Has Always Been,” and “Way Down in My Whiskey.” Many of the songs on the album reflect on themes of love and loss, showcasing Jackson’s ability to connect with listeners on an emotional level.
Where Have You Gone reached the second spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart following its release. It also peaked at the ninth spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
Jackson’s fans are always excited to hear new music from him. So people will be happy to learn that he’s working on new songs again.
Jackson spoke about his potential plans to release new music while he was a guest on his daughter Mattie’s In Joy Life podcast. He said he “would hope” to share some new songs in the future.
“I mean, I may not have toured much, but like I said, the creative part jumps out every now and then,” he said. “I’m always scribbling down ideas and thinking about melodies and I feel like there’ll be some more music to come, yes.“
Jackson told his daughter he finds songwriting “more fulfilling than anything.”
“It’s like, you can be a singer and go out and tour, but it’s kind of like you’re just doing the same thing over and over,” he said. “When you make an album, or especially when you write a lot of the songs, that’s creating something. It’s a challenge, so it keeps you interested a little more. If I didn’t write, I think I would’ve gotten bored just singing a long time ago.”
Jackson’s accomplishments as a singer, songwriter, and entertainer have been recognized a lot in recent months. In 2022 he was named as CMT’s Artist of a Lifetime and was also honored as the recipient of the CMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Several of today’s biggest stars gathered to honor Jackson during the CMA Awards by performing a medley of his songs. Jackson ended the medley by singing “Don’t Rock the Jukebox.” Watch that performance below.
