33 years after he passed away, Keith Whitley’s legacy is still alive and well thanks to his music. Whitley was recently inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame – something that most fans of the genre will say it was a long time coming.

Whitley’s songs were once again covered on the singing competition show, The Voice, bringing his music to sometimes a total new audience! Bryce Leatherwood, who ended up winning the latest season, performed Whitley’s hit song “Don’t Close Your Eyes” in the finals, pretty much solidifying his win.

Whitley’s widow, country singer Lorrie Morgan, praised the 16-year-old singer, saying, “Bryce did such a great job and I think he deserves to win for this performance alone! I’ll bet Keith is smiling down! Brought tears to my eyes!”

Whitley’s music once again is being brought to the masses thanks to superstar Morgan Wallen. In a social media post on Christmas Eve Eve (aka Dec. 23rd), Wallen sat on the floor of his home next to a very small Christmas tree. He sang Whitley’s song “Kentucky Bluebird,” which is off Whitley’s album of the same name and his first posthumous release.

“Been in the studio so much, this is all the decorating I got done. Here’s part of one of my favorite Keith Whitley songs ‘Kentucky Bluebird’,” Wallen captioned the video.

Wallen’s voice fit perfectly on this song and he earned lots of praise from fans, one even saying, “I always describe Morgan as today’s Keith Whitley…”

We’re sure Whitley would be proud of this cover. Watch it below.
