How Willie Nelson Rescued & Saved The Lives Of 70 Horses

Leave it up to music legend Willie Nelson to save the day! The humble singer has become a “father” to 70 horses he saved from the slaughterhouse. Although he spends many days on the road, his favorite ones are spent at his ranch alongside his horses.
“Luckiest” Ranch In Texas
Willie has been rescuing horses for years, with 70 horses roaming around his Texas ranch he always has great company near. “Luck Ranch” has become the name of his beloved 700-acre plot just 30 miles from Austin. Willie describes the ranch in the most fitting fashion.
“When you’re here, you’re in Luck, and when you’re not, you’re out of Luck.”
The saying couldn’t be more true as all the horses were personally rescued by Willie – most of them just days before they would be taken to the slaughterhouse. Since their rescue, they have become spoiled by the Red-Headed Stranger. Willie described their daily lives at Luck,
“My horses are probably the luckiest horses in the world.” Willie gushes, “They get hand-fed twice a day, and they were just ready to go to slaughter is probably the last thing they remembered, so they’re happy horses.”
His Love For Horses
Willie’s love for horses is no new passion though. The singer has released a couple of songs in dedication to his beloved friends, including a new one titled “Ride Me Back Home” and 2012’s “A Horse Called Magic.” In 2015, Willie was granted with The People’s Silver Telly Award for his video of “The Love of Horses.” The video showcases a few gentlemen, Willie included, working to pass the legislation to end the slaughter of horses.
The love especially runs deep in the Nelson family as Willie’s son, Lukas is a big advocate for horse safety too. Lukas and Willie both support the foundations Saving America’s Horses and Habitat for Horses.
It can be confirmed that Willie Nelson has a heart of gold. We adore him!
