On Sunday (December 12), the legendary Vicente Fernández passed away at the age of 81. Fernández was a four-time Grammy-winning singer from Mexico, known for songs such as “Por Tu Maldito Amor,” “Volver Volver,” “Acá Entre Nos,” and “Hermoso Cariño.”

The news of Fernández’ passing comes after he suffered a fall at his ranch in August. People reports that Fernández was placed on a ventilator after the fall.

Fernández’ family shared the news of his death on his official Instagram page. People translated part of the statement from Spanish into English, which read:

It was an honor and a great pride to share with everyone his great musical career. He gave everything to his audience.”

Fernández’ death was mourned by celebrities all over the world. One of the most touching tributes came from country music superstar George Strait.

Strait seemed to love and respect Fernández and his work. He made his admiration for Fernández clear in the statement he issued after he learned about his death.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Strait wrote, “Sad news today. We lost The amazing legendary Vicente Fernández this morning.”

Strait went on to call Fernández, “One of my heroes.”

The country singer then shared his condolences for Fernández’ family. “May he Rest In Peace and may God bless and comfort his family,” he wrote.
