In the midst of these trying times, Dolly Parton is serving as a bright light.

For weeks (and in some countries, months) people have been practicing social distancing and self-isolation in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Concerts have been postponed, restaurants and businesses have closed, and people have been forced to cancel important life events such as baby showers and weddings.

Not to mention that thousands of people have died after contracting the virus, and thousands of others have been infected.

In this dark time, people have managed to find happiness in the little things in life, such as their pets’ silly antics, their children’s laughter, or the songs of their favorite artists. Surely, many people have turned on Parton’s music to help them get through this challenging period.

A few days ago, the country superstar used her platform to share a message of hope. In a video posted to her social media accounts, she encouraged her fans to “Keep the faith.”

It’s gonna be alright, God loves us!” she said.

A few days later, Parton announced her plans to start a weekly storytime session called “Goodnight with Dolly,” during which she’ll read bedtime stories to children from her Imagination Library.

The storytime is set to take place during a Facebook event every Thursday night for the foreseeable future.

A smiling Parton announced the news in a video message while wearing pjs, snuggling up with a cozy blanket, and holding a children’s book in her hands.

Now, Parton has done even more to let her fans know she’s thinking about them during this trying time. And she specifically reached out to those who are fighting on the frontlines in the midst of this pandemic.

Via a video message, Parton offered her thanks to all healthcare workers, first responders, and military personnel for risking their lives right now:

“I know it’s easy for us to sit home and watch you on television and feel sorry for you because of what you’re going through,” she said. “But we are at war, and you’re on the frontlines. We just want you to know we are praying for you and we appreciate you more than you could imagine.”

You can watch Parton’s full message of thanks below.

We too, join Parton in thanking all who are putting their lives on the line right now to help others. From healthcare professionals to grocery store cashiers, our hearts, prayers, and thanks go out to you.

Remember, during this time it’s important to maintain cleanliness and keep all surfaces sanitary. Also, stay home unless you absolutely have to leave for an essential reason. One such reason would be to go to the grocery store to get food and supplies.

If you want to learn more about how to sanitize and handle groceries/takeout food to decrease your chances of contracting COVID-19, watch the video below.
