On May 18, 2021, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials announced their 90th-anniversary celebration. The event is scheduled to run for 21 days Monday, Feb 28, 2022, through Sunday, March 20, 2022. To top it all off, country music icon George Strait has been selected to perform a concert on the final night of the event, marking his 31st performance for the rodeo.

On the night of the concert, there will be no rodeo performances before the concert, however, all activities on the grounds, including shopping and dining areas, carnival, livestock and horse show competitions, and other exhibits and attractions will be open that day.

Strait’s full-length concert will be held in NRG Stadium on the final night of the 2022 Rodeo. Individual tickets for his performance go on sale to the public Thursday, June 24, 2021, and can be purchased directly on the website. A limit of four tickets per person has been set for concertgoers. The remaining 2022 entertainer lineup has yet to be announced but will be once available.

In 1983 George Strait debuted at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as a newcomer to the country music scene.  Over 35 years later, he has become one of the biggest names in all of country music.
