Travis Tritt was feeling extraordinarily honored in a recent post on Instagram when he found out his song “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” was used to create a music video from outer space!

NASA Astronaut and Commander of the International Space Station, Chris Cassidy, took to Instagram to share their music video version of “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive.” He acted out many of the lyrics from inside and outside the shuttle and also got some of his fellow astronauts to join in on the fun. The famous astronaut wanted to remind everyone that although they are far from the earth, they understand the hard times everyone is going through, and they wanted to share some light and encouragement saying:

“It’s A Great Day To Be Alive From 250 miles above the Earth, Expedition 63 is very much aware of the hard times which exist in the neighborhoods of the world rotating below. Even amid the uncertainty and difficulties of battling through these challenging times, we encourage everyone to be the best “crewmates” & take care of each other. Cherish the people you love.”

“It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” was released in December 2000 as the second single from Travis’ album Down the Road I Go. Although it wasn’t a number one song for Travis, it has remained a favorite among fans. It peaked at number two on the U.S. Billboard Country Songs Charts and number 33 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Travis was thrilled and honored when he saw the music video the astronauts had created using his song. He shared the video on his personal Instagram saying:

“Travis Tritt – “Great Day To Be Alive” from the International Space Station As close as I’ll ever get to actually being in space. I’m very honored to have my music being played on the Intl. Space Station! Thanks so much @astro_seal!”
